Young Brooklyn Rapper stabbed
Renato Rowe, a.k.a “Young Roddo,” was stabbed to death in the hallway of a building in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Renato, the son of an NYPD officer, had apparently been poking fun at the name of a gang, when things went south.
His friends say that he was a good person with no criminal record. One friend said Renato never rapped about hurting people.
This is just another sad case of what goes on in our streets today.
How much do you want to bet that the Al Sharptons of the world would not get up and take a stance against the gangs, however if a cop were to shoot and kill the gang members we’d have rallies and calls of police brutality…
What have we come to?
Help keep me awakeCorrection Officer Shot in Brooklyn
Kenneth Duncan, a 17-year veteran of the New York City Department of Correction, was shot in the head early yesterday morning outside a garage at his home in the Remsen Village section of Brooklyn, police officials said.
Duncan and a friend, a former marine who was not identified by police, were working on a motorcycle in his yard at 8702 Avenue A, where he lived with his sister and mother, when they were approached by the two men. A conversation ensued and the suspects left, a witness told police.
Shortly afterward, the two men returned with a handgun, apparently with the intent to commit a robbery, police said.
The men approached Duncan and his friend, and, following a dispute, one of the suspects allegedly fired at Duncan. It is believed that Duncan returned fire before the suspects fled, police said.
Duncan was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and pronounced dead at about 3:40 a.m., police said.
With all that’s going on with the Sean Bell incident i’d really wish Al Sharpton would come to this family and for rallys to stop the violence in the community.
Instead people are trying to find reasons to cause civil disobedience in the city to disrupt life over the release of the officers.
Maybe i’m just silly, but shouldn’t we start with the root of the prolem?
Lets attack the violence in the community, the gangs, the crime, and making sure our youth don’t carry themselves in a why that the “stereotypical labels” just don’t fit.
Just my two cents
Help keep me awakeThe Sean Bell Delima
Seems like this will be my first topic on this blog…
It’s a touchy one.
First off i want to start by extending my condolences to Sean Bell’s Family. This was a tragic incident indeed.
Now on to my statement on this.
While i do feel that the officers shot too many times and i do believe that they need to face some sort of charges, i think we lose the big picture in this.
The unfortunate thing going on is this cultivation of this gangsta mentality that our black men are cultivating. In this incident we have three young men, some of whom have some serious items on their rap sheet, in a police confrontation.
First of all why do they have criminal record at all? This was a question i posed to a friend of mine and his dumb response was “Who doesn’t have a record?” Well guess what! I don’t. It bugs me that i see Black America standing up and rallying around two remaining “victims” who, mind you, put themselves in situations that are unsafe, dangerous and subject themselves to police scrutiny. Yet however Black America, does not stand up and march against the street gangs that are killing our youth. Why don’t i see them protesting day after day in front of BET, or Hot97 saying that you will boycott them until they stop playing records that promote gangs, violence, degradation of women and drug (weed) use?
The problem is that it seems easier to stand up and make a statement about everything else except the root of the problem.
What i want to see is Al Sharpton form a rally of thousands and march through the streets of Brooklyn, Chicago, LA, Miami, Philly and confront the gangs on the streets. I want to see thousands of supported on the streets facing these gang members on their turf and telling them we will take it no more. I want to see thousands in front the houses of 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and the Cash Money crew (just to name a few) and say that we are not leaving till they change their lyrics. How about taking it to XXL magazine, etc and boycotting them?
There is so much that we as a people turn a blind eye to. Yet instead of focusing on stopping the problem and going to the source we want to stand up and find every other reason for why our young black men are dying on the streets!
When we think we take one step forward, our own take us ten steps back and then laugh as we blame everyone else for those ten steps except the ones who did it.
Sean Bell died because of in adequate training for our Police Officers.
The police officers shot so many times because of in adequate parental training for our youth.
How many more need to die before we see it’s not “their” fault, but “our” fault?
